Imagine being wrongly jailed as a fall guy for an employer you just started working for. Chetan Mahajan was. Scared but defiant, Chetan decided to turn this lemon into lemonade. He maintained a diary of even this darkest phase of his life (Literally. The power supply in Jharkhand is terrible). He then converted his two fat registers full of scribbles – no laptops in jail – into a compelling book. Penguin published “The Bad Boys of Bokaro Jail” to critical acclaim.

After his 1-month jail stint, Chetan cleared his name & went back to the familiar. He joined HCL Learning Ltd as the CEO but it gave him little joy. When the Gurgaon air caused breathing problems for his son, the family of four left the city and moved to a village in the Himalayas. The move was great for his family, but Chetan went from being “top management” to being unemployed, overnight.

Chetan looked to his loves – entrepreneurship, writing, teaching and the Himalayas. He went back to the drawing board with his passions. He brought all these together and created the Himalayan Writing Retreat (www.himalayanwritingretreat.com ). What started off as an experiment has now become a successful lifestyle business with participants from over 5 countries, many of whom travel from around the globe.
